Former Great Western Railway 0-6-2T 5643 is back in traffic after its first 10 yearly heavy general overhaul, which made a significant hole in Trust finances. So the Furness Railway Trust's workhorse locomotive still needs your support!
There are two ways in which you can help.
We need money to help cover the sizeable cost of this work, which had to be brought forward by two years due to the failure of a rivet in the foundation ring and weepage from a number of tubes and stays.
5643's initial restoration was paid for entirely through donations, including to two specific appeals, and from proceeds from our sales of gifts and other merchandise. Now we need help again - the early need to do this work means two years' worth of steaming revenue from this engine which could have helped fund the project were lost.
