The Furness Railway Trust is proud to present this limited edition run of 850 prints of a watercolour painting of Furness Railway Number 20. Price £20 including Post and Packing in the UK. The painting, showing FR No. 20 ascending Backbarrow Bank with a passenger train on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway, was presented to the Trust as a gift by the artist, Roger Street. Proceeds are being used to raise funds for the Trust’s future restoration projects. |

Roger Street is a retired GP who now lives at Newton Ferrers, near Plymouth. He is already well known in the National Model Railroaders Association for his paintings of American steam locomotives. Despite not having received any formal training, Roger has cultivated an ability to be able to incorporate intricate detail like rivets and valve gear that would not be attempted by many other watercolour artists. Remarkably, his painting of FR No. 20 was produced from solely from photographs sent to Roger by Derek Milby, a member of both the FRT and NMRA. Roger's painting captures not only the lines but also the spirit of the oldest working standard gauge steam locomotive in Britain. |

Once the Trust’s Committee had seen the original painting, there was no hesitation in investigating the feasibility of producing some prints, so this work of art could be shared amongst both members and the general public alike. The Trust has used Abacus (Colour Printers) Ltd of Lowick in South Cumbria who specialise in fine art reproductions, to produce the limited edition series.

The prints, all individually signed and numbered by the artist, are now available for sale. A number of retail outlets are stocking them, and they are also available by mail order. Prints will be sent in a strong cardboard tube to addresses in the UK postage free, for £20.00. |
